How it works.
Choose your file
Pick a .docx file or drop it on the box. It opens right here.
Check the preview
You see the document as it will print. If something looks off, fix it in Word and load it again.
Save it as a PDF
Press Download PDF. In the print window, pick Save as PDF as the printer and save the file.
Why it stays private.
Most online converters upload your file to a server, convert it there and send it back. This page does the work inside your browser. The file is read into your device’s memory, drawn on the screen and dropped when you close the tab. We have no server step that could keep a copy, and we do not record file names or contents. That makes it a fair choice for contracts, invoices, CVs and anything else you would rather not send to a stranger.
Built with open-source code served from this site: docx-preview (Apache-2.0) and JSZip (MIT).
Questions.
Is this Word to PDF converter really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser reads the file and draws it on the page. Nothing is sent to our servers or to anyone else, and the file is gone from memory when you close or reload the tab.
Will the PDF keep my formatting?
Mostly. Text, headings, lists, tables, images, headers and footers carry over well. Complex layouts can shift, such as text boxes, floating images, columns, equations and tracked changes. Fonts your device does not have are swapped for a similar one. Check the preview before you save.
Does it work with old .doc files?
No, only .docx. In Word, open the old file and choose File, Save As, then pick Word Document (.docx). Google Docs and LibreOffice can also save a copy as .docx.
Can I use it on my phone?
Usually. Chrome on Android lists Save as PDF in its print screen. On an iPhone, open the print preview, spread two fingers on it, then use the Share button to save the PDF. A computer is easier for long documents.
