Case study

A hotel website where a late booking takes one tap

Nicoya, Costa Rica · Spanish with an English toggle · built for phones

The problem.

Hotel Las Tinajas is a family-run hotel in the centre of Nicoya. Its guests are mostly people travelling for work or passing through, and they book late, from a phone. The hotel had no website of its own, so someone who found it still had to hunt for a price, an air-conditioned room or a way to ask for a bed that night. The site answers those questions on the first screens and moves the booking into WhatsApp, where the hotel already talks to its guests.

Opens in this tab. It is a demo copy: forms and outside links are switched off.

What is on the page, section by section.

  1. Booking box in the first screen

Arrival, departure, number of guests and room type, then one button that opens WhatsApp with those details already written. On phones a bar with WhatsApp and call buttons stays at the bottom.

People who book late are on their phone and already have WhatsApp open. The hotel gets a complete message instead of "Do you have a room?", so it can answer in one reply.

  2. Rooms and rates

Three room types, with the room numbers and the price per night for one to four guests.

Price and air conditioning are the first things a guest wants to know. Showing them up front saves a round of messages. The rate card in the demo is the 2024 one and is marked as subject to update.

  3. Good to know

A short list of house rules: pets, children, ID at check-in, and where to ask about cancellation and check-in times.

Surprises at the front desk cost goodwill. Saying it on the page lets guests decide before they arrive.

  4. What the hotel has

Wi-Fi in every room, secure parking, breakfast with its price, electronic invoice on request, and a note that it was recently remodelled.

Business travellers check parking and invoices before style. The list is plain on purpose, with no resort language, because the hotel is simple and honest about it.

  5. Where it is

A line saying the hotel is in the centre of Nicoya, with map buttons for directions.

Nicoya is inland, and some directories place the hotel near the beaches. The page states where it is and gives directions in one tap.

  6. Reviews and contact

Short excerpts from guest reviews, then WhatsApp, a call button and the payment options the hotel accepts.

Reviews from other business travellers reassure the same kind of guest. Payment options answer the next question before it is asked.

How we would adapt this to your business.

  • Hotels, B&Bs, restaurants and clinics: put the one question customers ask most (a room, a table, a price) in the first screen and send it to the channel you already answer fastest.
  • Any business that takes bookings by message: let the form write the message for the customer, so you receive dates, numbers and details in one go.
  • Local customers: pair the page with a complete Google Business Profile, so people searching near you see the same address, hours and phone.
